Types of Pipe Flanges by raw material

are mostly used at places where ordinary pipes valves and other tools are required to be dismantled for maintenance purposes. There are three main elements of joints; flanges, gaskets, and bolting. Most of the times, flanges are made of forging but under particular circumstances, they can also be made by welding quality plates. While the flanges are made from different kinds of metals, and all of them do the job as they are asked, there are certain benefits of some metals over the others.

Forged steel flanges

Forged are defined as a plate type device, normally round, that is attached to the end of a pipe, fitting,

Stainless Steel flanges

Stainless Steel flanges are corrosion resistant and have a wide variety of uses. We Offer Stainless Steel Parts

AWWA standard flanges

We supply AWWA standard flanges as following standards, pressures, sizes and types, if the needing flanges

ANSI standard flanges

ANSI-approved flanges are used for the industrial market which handles gas, air and steam process systems.

There are a lot of different applications of pipe flanges such as the stainless steel flanges can be used efficiently to prolong them without having to worry about the sealing property. Also, it becomes easy to inspect and replace the section of pipeline and modify them in the future. Blocking a specific section is also no longer a problem as per your business needs.

Let’s take a look at the major pipe flange metals and their advantages over one another.

Flat are usually made of carbon steel, and there is a raised face on them which has to be removed first. Then a full gasket is required to make them fit into the gap caused by the raised face. They are mostly used as inside diameters, bolt circles and bolts for weld neck for special purposes. It is no secret that carbon steel is steel alloyed with carbon and the presence of carbon content only increase its hardness. However, this comes at a cost as it reduces its melting point that creates some difficulties in practical use.

To put it simply, it is just steel alloyed with specific elements to enhance and improve the steel’s properties. The alloys that are mostly used vanadium, nickel, chromium and more. A335 type of pipe flanges is made to bear high temperature services in the industry.

Cast Iron flanges
Iron is alloyed with carbon, silicon and a few other alloys to give them some unique properties. The reason behind using the silicon is that it forces carbon out of the iron for special purposes. As a result, it forms a black graphite layer on the outside of the metal which gives significant advantages. The best thing about the cast iron is that they have a lot of uses like castability, machinability, but they end up having low melting points.

Brass flanges
Copper, zinc and sometimes additional elements such as lead are used to make brass pile flanges. This is just to give it specific properties, and it enjoys the right strength and amazing extreme temperature ductility which makes it a perfect fit in a lot of industries. It also has excellent conductivity and great resistance against corrosion and a lot of great properties.

Aluminum flanges
As we know that aluminum is a little density and standard strength material but it has excellent resistance against corrosion, and that is more than carbon and alloy steel ones. As a result, pipe flanges made of aluminum are malleable and enjoy good resistance against corrosion that makes them last for years and there is no need to replace them after a few months.

PVC falnges
It stands for polyvinyl chloride and the best feature about this material is that it is affordable yet it gives great advantages. It is easier to assemble than the other materials and what makes it unique is that it is resistant to both chemical and biological corrosion so it can be used without any fair in any environment as there will be no need for replacement in the next few years for sure.
